Simon Puot Poth believes in education's ability to bring people together. Simon is headmaster at Hope Primary School in Kenya's Kakuma refugee camp. Many of his students come from war-torn countries. He is a refugee himself, forced to leave South Sudan shortly after conflict began in 2013.
Now, he is doing everything he can to help those who have had their lives uprooted, despite the difficult circumstances in Kakuma. "I want to help my brothers and sisters who have run away from war in South Sudan to better their lives through education."
Over 5,000 students are enrolled in emergency schools in Kakuma. Simon is grateful for Learning and Living Kits and other support they've received from Canadians and hopes that it will continue for the sake of refugees who've lost so much.
